Vintage Ballentine Photos ~ roots run deep

Our roots run deep beneath the soils of Napa Valley where we continue to farm our 100+ year old estate vineyards and produce wonderful wines that are true expressions of the terroir. We are one of the few old, small family wineries in Napa Valley.

Harvest time - 118 years and counting

    118 years and counting

Harvest is always an exciting time of year. 2018 marks our 118th harvest in the Napa Valley. We grow our grapes from the three diverse vineyard sites in St. Helena and Calistoga that Betty’s grandparents and Van’s parents purchased. Our youngest vineyard was acquired over 70 years ago.

Our vineyards are established and know a great deal about the soil, climate and which varietals grow best there. We use new vineyard technology and practice sustainable farming. Our winemaking team has been working closely with our vines for many years. Every year we make improvements to our properties with the intention to never lose our heritage and roots. With roots coming from both Betty and Van’s family, our history is something we are very proud of.

Understanding how important quality fruit is for making great wine, Ballentine Vineyards became established in 1993. It is a great advantage to know where your grapes come from and to control every step of our farming. We have made every vintage of wine from our vineyards and just like in our vines, we make improvements every year to craft the best wine possible. With all our efforts, our winery recently became Napa Green Certified Winery. We will continue to craft small lots of wine, striving to make each vintage better than the last.
