“I love telling the story of the last 100 years and how it is such a hidden gem among the giants of the Napa Valley today.“
Napa Valley wine and Ballentine Vineyards have long, interesting histories. Morgan Bacigalupi knows it all and brings history to life as our Tasting Room Manager. Like many, Morgan didn’t start off with wine. Ten years ago, while working as a gift buyer, she had an “aha” moment. Being a gift buyer wasn’t near as rewarding as working directly with people, which is what Morgan really loved. She also found out that she really loved wine, which we at Ballentine Vineyards are grateful for. Morgan’s desire to affect people’s lives and share her passion for wine grew. She started her career at Chateau St. Jean Winery, then spent the next year at Elizabeth Spencer Wine, and then three years at St. Clement Vineyards. At St. Clement, she worked with the winemaker, Dannilelle Cyrot, who just happens to be the wife of our own Winemaker, Bruce Devlin. When Ballentine Vineyards asked her to join the team, she was elated.
Now, Morgan is firmly settled as our resident historian. While showing off the beauty of the Ballentine estate, she’ll tell you about Libero Pocai, who bought a 60-acre parcel of land with gold coins. While sitting in the tasting room and enjoying the fruits of the harvest, she’ll share how John Ballentine bought 160 acres and an old stone winery during Prohibition, when it was still illegal to produce wine.
When not regaling visitors with stories of the vineyard, Morgan spends time with her family in Fairfield.
“Every day is a surprise. I love connecting with people and finding the wine and experience that delights them. Those are my magical moments.”
